Turkey, Turkey, and More Turkey

I really like Thanksgiving. Its one of the few times in the year that we get together with my aunt and uncle. They are the only aunt and uncle I have left on my dad's side and they are really great people. That and with my grandma home we have a lot to be thankful for. It was such a mad house yesterday with us 14 adults, 3 of the grandkids, my grandma and my aunt and uncle, my other brother and sister-in-law came for desert with their 3 girls. We had so much food and its always chaotic fun.

After dinner when Jared and his family got to my grandma's we were sitting around talking and the little boys wanted to go out side, Jared was emptying his pockets of guns and knives and the usual arsinal he carries and he pulled out his handcuffs. Brandon wasn't in the room so I mentioned we need to get Brandon by surprise and handcuf him. We didn't want to break anything in the house so we decided to go outside and "play" football. Jeff and Jared started playing keep away so they could get Brandon between them and get him, but Brandon decided to tackle Jared and it was over after that, it was decided to get the hand cuffs on Jared and the two boys spend a good 5 min wrestling him and only succeeded in getting one handcuf on.

My niece, Jared's 7 year old, was not at all happy that her dad was getting beat up. It was quite entertaining, its been a while since we have all been together in a place to goof off like that.

When we were done eating and visiting we left and Jeff, Jared, my dad and Bre came over to our place to play some guitar hero. It was the first time for my dad, Jeff and Jared. My dad wanted to just watch us but he was there and so he needed to play. He isn't much for video games but he did pretty good.

Another Weekend Activity

Yesterday, Sat, some of my siblings and I got together at my parents house to fix their roof. It was kind of fun hanging out on the icy roof ripping it apart. There was Ross and I, Brandon, Jeff and Daren for a couple min. We started at 8 ish with my mom making breakfast. Then when we got up on the roof it was frosty and icy. Brandon was walking around like nothing else, he is also a hundred pounds heavier than some of us and he works on roofs for a living. The rest of us slipped a little, kind of a little un nerving when you the fall would be big. So we devised a way to get rid of the ice and frost on the roof.

It actually worked and got rid of the frost and we felt safer. It actually took a lot longer to fix than we had planned but it got done and reshingled so if it snows it will be ok. (not like its ever going to snow)

This is Brandon's nail job, he even had a palm nailer (aircompressed hand nail gun). He is a framer and should be better:)

Weekend Joy

With it being so warm here for a November we decided to go golfing yesterday. Not something that can always be done in November. It was a lot of fun. When we started the game, about 3, it was pretty warm, by the time we finished it was very cold. We still had fun and I had a pretty good game. Ross even played the short game. Usually he does the driving but when he gets to the green he stops. He does pretty good on the short game, he just says its boring.

Work

My job is not like any other job I have had. I have real responsibilities and what I do can have an effect on other's jobs. Most days I like my job, I actually enjoy it. But some days, like today, its not so much fun. My job description keeps changing. Now, part of what I do, is play the big brother. I have some reports that show me what people are doing and its broken down to the min. There is someone I work with, that is sort of a friend, we chat and are friendly, nice individual. It turns out that when this person was doing overtime during hours we were closed, they weren't really working. There were suspisions and I have to confirm their suspisions, show how little work was done and report it back. Its definitely not my idea of a good time, however, I wouldn't be in such a crappy position if people would do what they are paid to do. I don't enjoy the part of my job where the info I find results in a termination. I also just found out that because of information I found on another agent, they have been put up for termination. I am not the biggest fan of this person, but it always sucks to loose a job and its his own doing. On the other hand I have to be the responsible person in my position and follow through with what I agreed to when I took the job. I have learned that just because you are an adult in the work place doesn't mean you are going to be responsible, honest, and have ethics and because of that some of us have jobs.

Coming up Millhouse

Things have been going pretty good lately, I can't complain. A couple days ago we found out my grandma will be getting out of the care facility a couple weeks earlier than the doctors originally thought. She will also be getting out 2 days before Thanksgiving. We were trying to figure out how to work that and pick her up for the dinner and get her back, but this just makes it much more simpler. Ross and I went to visit her Saturday and she was looking so good. They keep her busy with physical therapy a couple times a day and she was telling us that for therapy that morning they had her baking cookies to get her used to moving around her own home again. I think she has actually enjoyed it there with all the things to do and she has constantly had visitors.

This weekend Ross had to work Saturday and I wanted to go fishing but all my brother's were busy so I was at home, which was ok. I actualy got in a big cleaning kick and really scoured parts of our apartment, I really like living in a clean place. I also got Martha Stewart and made Ross some cookies, he really loves the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and they are so simnple. Our apartment still smells like pumpkins.

Last night was a lot of fun. I finally paid up on my lost bet and had an ice cream party for my friend. We did it to include husbands and kids and another friend and played a couple games. It was a lot of fun, and I think Ross even had fun.

James Bond

Last night we went to a midnight showing of Quantum of Solace. I really like Daniel Craig as James Bond and after Casino Royale I was really looking forward to this one. It was very good and I wasn't disappointed. My favorites have always been Sean Connery and Roger Moore, but I think I like Daniel Craig better as James Bond, he plays it much more physically than all the others and he is all around much hotter than the others. The other James Bonds have the gadgets and toys but I don't remember any that James used in this one, it was more brute force and regular guns. His vehicles were also very different. He usually has Aston Martins and very small sports cars, this one he mainly drove Fords. It was very good and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. I am surprised I stayed awake for almost all of it and I felt bad for the guys, they all had to go to work today.

This is Bryce Canyon National Park, at the beginning of our hike. We started at the top and it had switch backs going down into it. It was a long but fun hike. This was family reunion my 2nd year home from my mission.

Hot Chocolate and Marshmellows

This morning I woke up to the 2nd best site possible, it was raining and snowing in the mountains. The more I think about it I think its actually better than snow right now for the simple fact that I didn't have to scrape snow off my car or chip away at an ice build up, while freezing, before going to work. I love the winter but its bitter cold at 6am. I got to work this morning and I don't think they believe in a heater, I usually sit with a blanket wrapped around my legs and a sweat shirt on and a can of hot chocolate mix in my desk. I was making my hot chocolate this morning and realized that the miniature marshmellows that came in my hot chocolate powder were pretty pointless. When I was a kid we would always try to get my mom to get the kind that had the little marshmellows in them but I realized today that you don't get a chance to enjoy them. For me at least, they are usually melted before I am done mixing up my drink, and I am don't stir that slowly. I was just thinking how easy life was when the highlight of my day was marshmellows in my hot chocolate (I was so excited to get them I didn't really notice they melted quickly) and the worst thing that could happen was I got in another fight with my friend or a boy at school found out I had a crush on him and I was teased unmercifully. I felt rich if I had $5 and I couldn't wait to spend it on candy or ice cream. There are just the things about getting older that I was never told about that would have been a nice warning. I have noticed as I have gotten older that I now gain weight and it slowly and discretely settles around my mid section and its much harder to get rid of. I am going grey already, I thought that just grandmas and really old people did that. I def can't eat sweets like I used to, and end up sick when I try. Getting old isn't all that bad, I have a great husband, I have gotten to travel the country as well as the world, I get along with my family, for the most part, much better than when we were kids, they still pick on me just as much though. I am very lucky to have a job I don't mind and a forgetful boss who encourages vacations. Man I am rambling and kind of scattered. I do that on ocassion.

Another great thing that has happened, AFI just announced that they fnished writing their new album and are headed to the studio to get started on that part. So within the next year there should be a new cd and shortly after that they should go on tour. Their last concert I went to was one of my favorites and can't wait for another.

Good Things and a Poor Husband

There have been a lot of good things going on in life lately. I went to see my grandma yesterday and she is moving much easier and she said she isn't in as much pain. Her biggest gripe is that she has to walk with a walker right now and that they make her ride in a wheel chair to her meals. I am sure its very hard for such an independent woman to have to rely on others. However, I am very grateful at the progress she has made and that her spirits are good and she is still fighting and anxious to get home.

My really good friend/work out partner has introduced me to a website with amazing deals. Last week when I went to her house to work out we spent half the time on the website looking at deals and trying to get some to work, much to my husbands chagrin. I have spent a lot of time on the site checking out deals and seeing what we could get and its a lot of fun, and then I realize that even though they are really good deals, if I got all that I wanted I would put me and my husband in the poor house.

Its almost ski season and I am so excited. Alta now has a base depth listed and after this weekend and the first of the week it should go up. I can't wait to put on my skis and go and I am very excited for Ross to use his new gear. It will be a very fun ski season and am very excited for it to start.

Hell froze over

I have Fridays off from work and now that the wedding is done and gone I don't have as much to do on Fridays, nor does my mom. We still get together though cause I don't usually have a lot to do and though she has stuff to do is not too excited to do them. Today we were going to lunch and I was driving. Since the concert Monday I have been on a Metallica kick and had a cd on in my car. As we were driving to lunch my mom asked who the band was and I told her and she shocked me with her next comment "I really liked that song, I need more like that". I must say my jaw hit my lap and I was speechless. For those of you that know my mother, this is a huge thing. It was one of my favorite songs, Orion, and its all instrumental but its fast and its hard and my mother liked it. Still very stunned.

From I want my MTV to when did MTV become CSPAN

So chapter W. is coming to a close and soon chapter O. will being starting. I swear if the chapter after is another W. a computer nerd wrote this book. (For those of you that dont get that reference W.O.W. stands for World of Warcraft and just about everyone I work with plays it and lives in their mothers basement.) So we see that there are so many stations that covered the election and are now covering the aftermath that is commencing. You have Fox News, CSPAN, CNN, etc. etc. and woah whats this MTV a channel that started off playing music 24 hours a day 7 days week. This was an awesome concept when it first came out and now does nothing, but fill us with shows about over privileged people living in L.A. who swear the show isnt scripted , but with how stupid these people are you have to wonder if they could even memorize lines and for those of you who dont know what I'm referencing its the Hills. Then you have shows like Next where they get 5 people to attempt to impress one person for an attempt to go on another date with said suitor. If the person doesn't like them they get "NEXTed" I know what a concept huh, spare me MTV.
Every 4 years though MTV does this 180 and attempts to be a hard hitting election covering station. Yeah thats right you heard me they cover the election. Not a bad idea really and I have to say nice one MTV you helped reach a target audience that before never really cared about voting. The part that does make me want to give an enima to the entire network and those that come on some of it shows is when these "celebrities" come on and tell you how you should vote. Excuse me you spoiled pampered waste of sperm you want to come on here and tell me how to vote. You want me to vote for someone and you yourself will be to lazy to even get up and vote for. Who the hell do you think you people are? By far during this election the worse celeb award goes to Sean P. Diddy Clombs. This guy has had more name changes then Prince and yet he wants to tell me who to vote for. This pathetic excuse for a human has the nerve to go out and tells people that he wants us to give him a black president for his birthday. Yeah you heard right this guy who cant form sentences and cant pronounce simple words like earth (he pronounces it earf) and instead of asking questions will make a statement (ex. I can have that.. moron its May I have this or that? or Would you mind if I took this?) and this guy wants to tell you who to vote for. Then when Obama gets elected he claims that HIS vote is the one that made him win. HELLO moron what about the other millions of voters that voted, but yeah your right your one won it for him. Seeing things like this make me realize HELL truely is coming to earth if it wasnt here already. MTV puts these people with one sense of what real Americans deal with just their own twisted idea of what reality is. I dont know about you, but I dont jet set off to exotic islands or go to parties in the Hampton's and yet these people want to tell the new class of voters who to vote for. Parents please teach your kids that MTV is not a source of information to base who to vote for. Celebrities opinions on politics should be treated like a joke and nothing more. If you want to know who to vote for discover for yourself and do your OWN research.

New Invite

So I changed the setting on my blog so only those invited can ready it. So you may have gotten a new email invite and if you did you can just re-do it, I think your old access will be available for a couple days before it switches over.

He Won: Lets talk about what this means.

OK so Obama Won, far enough. Now lets talk about what I dont want to hear ANYMORE. I dont want to ever hear anymore talk about racism and how "brothers" and "sisters" cant get ahead in this world. Your racism card offically has been cashed and we are now on an even playing field so knock that crap off. I personally dont care for the guy and it has NOTHING to do with his race. It has to do with things hes done and has ALWAYS been about things he has or hasnt done such as not placing his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance and having his "religious" adviser being a white hating racist. When your President of the free world you HAVE to to put only one race ahead of them all the HUMAN race skin color cannot come in to play and if you even hold an ounce of racism over someones skin tone your automatically screwing up. I hope the next 4 years dont get to crazy with this new president. Hold on folks the rides about to start.

7 feet from James and Kirk

Last night was the Metallica concert that I have been anxiously waiting for. For those that don't know, Ross stood in line to get floor tickets for over 2 hours on our wedding day, I was very concerned that he was going to be late to the sealing because they actually went on sale I think at 10:30 and he had to be to the temple at 11. Luckily it all turned out great, he got the floor tickets and was even a little early to the temple. So last night was the big show. Ross was excited to see one of the opening bands, Down, and I was there for Metallica. The show was so cool. They didn't play much from their new album, they would play 2 or 3 old, then a new, 2 or 3 old then a new. I was definitely not disappointed. I came out of there deaf and hoarse and covered in my sweat, Ross' sweat and some guy in front of me's sweat. We were so close on the floor that when James and Kirk came to our side of the stage we were like 7 feet away, I could see the details of James' scarred face. For a heavy metal concert it was pretty mellow, I didn't come out with a contact high like the first time I saw Metallica, I don't think I even smelled any pot, a little cigarette though. The funniest thing was this lady, she had to be in her 70's, grey hair, looked like a little grandma, working security at the heavy metal concert. Then while we were standing waiting for Metallica to set up there was a group in front of us, this mom, her 2 daughters, a daughters boy friend and friend. The daughters looked to be from 14 to 16. I was bored so I listened to part of their conversation and the girls were talking about a 3 some with the boy friend and the mom thought it was funny and was actually laughing. Kind of disturbing.

Today is also election day. I am not excited for this election, its like picking the lesser of two evils. There are huge things on both sides that I do not like and multiple reasons I don't want to see either of them run our country. I know my little vote won't count a whole lot in the big bucket but I don't want to loose my complaining rights for the next two years and seeing our choices my bet is there will be a lot to complain about. It will be very interesting to see the out come of this election and where it takes our country.

Metallica and people watching

So peoples last night was Metallica and as you may imagine there were some very interesting people there. OK I saw women wearing high heels, seriously ladies come on high heels at a rock concert. Then you add on top all the pimple faced boys who were born when the Black album came out. I know Brit was having fun sitting watching these people walk by. We were probably the only sober people there last night out of all the drunks. This time was alot more fun then the last time because we actually got to see the whole show and I got to see Down play and thye did mostly old songs off of NOLA. Hopefully it wont be a year before our next show.

Fakers and soon hopefully flakers (Ross)

So recent events have transpired with certain people who try to cater to other peoples needs and please them, then screw their other friends who have been there for them. When these people get told by so many that they still are screwing over everyone they dont care about those who have been there for them. To you I say good riddens. I dont need your poor excuse for a friendship anymore so please enough of your excuses and empty promises. So on good note it looks like we should snow soon and man I cant wait because I never grew up with snow and I have loved having it these last few years. Via La Snow!!!
